Easy Pizza Sloppy Joe Sliders
Servings 12 sliders
Ingredients
- 1 (16-ounce) package Johnsonville Italian Sausage (Mild or Hot)
- 1 (13 to 14-ounce) jar pizza sauce
- 1 cup mini pepperoni
- 1 (12 to 18-ounce) package dinner rolls
- 1 (8-ounce) package sliced mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly spray a small rimmed baking sheet or 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sausage until cooked through. Drain any excess grease away. Stir in the pizza sauce and pepperoni. Mix to combine. Set aside.
- Use a large knife to split the rolls in half horizontally - without separating them. Place the bottom half of the rolls on the prepared pan. Spread the sausage mixture evenly over them. Place the mozzarella cheese over the top. Place the top of the rolls on top.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Add salt if necessary - see note. Brush the butter mixture over the tops of the rolls. Bake uncovered for 10 minutes or until heated through and the cheese has melted. Serve immediately.
Notes
Many pizza sauces can be pretty salty so I leave the option of adding salt to the butter mixture to your own taste. Taste your meat mixture and if it's not too salty, add the salt to the butter mixture. If it's pretty salty, simply leave it out.
