Pin Recipe Recipe Card Email Recipe

Sweet, juicy peaches wrapped in crescent rolls and baked to golden perfection — these easy Peach Dumplings are the ultimate comfort dessert! Made with simple ingredients and a surprising splash of lemon-lime soda, they’re crisp, buttery, and downright irresistible. Serve them warm with a scoop of ice cream for the perfect summer treat.

Peach dumplings in baking dish

Pin this recipe!

It’s peach season in my neck of the woods and I’ve been dying to give these a try!  Last fall when I was making some of my Apple Dumplings, I thought, “Hey, these would be good with peaches, too!”  Since then, I’ve been anxiously awaiting the arrival of some beautiful, sweet peaches to give it a try.

And I’ll admit, these babies are pretty dang good.  In fact, I might just like them even better than the apple version.  There’s just something weird about the way all these ingredients work so well together, but it’s amazing. It’s a quick and easy way to get a delicious dessert on the table in less than 1 hour.  They are dynamite when served warm alongside some vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.

Recipe FAQ

Can I use canned or frozen peaches instead of fresh ones?
Yes! Canned or frozen peaches work well in this recipe. If using canned peaches, make sure to drain them well. If using frozen, let them thaw completely and pat them dry to avoid extra moisture.

Why use soda in the recipe?
The soda helps create a caramel-like sauce and gives the dumplings a light, fluffy texture. Lemon-lime soda is a popular choice, but you can try ginger ale or even a cream soda for a different twist.

Can I make these ahead of time?
These dumplings are best served fresh, but you can prepare them a few hours in advance and bake them just before serving. Reheat leftovers in the oven to crisp them up again.

Can I use puff pastry instead of crescent rolls?
Yes, but keep in mind that puff pastry will create a flakier texture and may require a longer baking time.

Total Time 45 minutes minutes
Servings 8 dumplings
Calories 296kcal

Ingredients

  • 1 large peach
  • 1 (8-ounce) 8-count tube of refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup lemon-lime soda

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly spray an 8×8-inch glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Peel and slice the peach into eight wedges, discarding the pit.
  • Open the can of crescent rolls and unroll them. Place one peach slice on the wide end of one crescent and roll it up in the crescent. Place them in the baking dish. Continue with other rolls.
  • In a small bowl combine the melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, and flour and mix until just combined. Spoon the mixture over each crescent.
  • Pour the lemon-lime soda into the empty spaces between the dumplings being cautious not to pour it on top of the dumplings. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until crescents are golden brown. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Oh friend, I made these today for our ladies Bible Study and they were a huge hit! Two of the ladies went home with the recipe! Only adjustment Isde was to use 1/4 cup packed brown sugar and a scant 1/2 cup of regular sugar! My husband says this is better than peach cobbler, his favorite! Thanks Stacey!

You can absolutely freeze the peach dumplings! Just let them cool completely, then place them in an airtight container or freezer bag and freeze for up to one month. When you’re ready to enjoy them again, just reheat in the oven until warmed through—and you’ll have that same gooey, comforting dessert with minimal effort.

The soda cooks down with the butter and sugar to make an amazing syrupy sauce. Don’t pour it on the peaches, but around them. You can use Mountain Dew, too.

You can use an aluminum pan here. I’d suggest reducing the oven temp by about 25 degrees as glass does cook faster. Enjoy!

If using fresh, yes, I’d agree. But canned sweet potatoes probably wouldn’t require pre-cooking.

I’m diabetic and would like to know if this can be made keto friendly? I love fruit and am restricted to certain fruits like blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, even though I love all fruits in moderation.

Even swapping the sugar for a substitute and using a diet or zero sugar soda, I’m just not sure you could get this into the “keto” range as a result of the fruit and crescent rolls.

I love these every way I’ve encountered them but my favorite is the first one I had – sweet potato (well those frozen yam patties)! You cut each patty in half to come up with sixteen dumplings and use two and of rolls. They’re wonderful! I always make them for Thanksgiving to have a little something different than pie or casserole. Always a big hit!

Thest peach dumplings are EXCELLENT! I have also made them with pears and they were great! But my favorite is making it with fresh bing cherries. I pitted and halved them and rolled 3 halves up in each roll. I had extra half cherries left so I threw them on top of the dumplings before I put them in the oven. Now this version is my family’s new favorite. Thanks for a delicious, versatile and easy recipe!

I have made this several times using fresh peaches, apples and pears. All are delicious! Made it on the grill today using indirect heat just to keep my a/c from working overtime. 100 degrees today I used a cheap foil pan and they turned out perfectly

OMG!!! I made this for my family and boy I tell you this was one of the best desserts I have tried thus far. The funny thing is I really don’t to much care for cooked fruit, but this was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Definitely will be making this again, again, and again. Thank you so much for sharing!! I do have 1 question? Is it necessary to use the full 3/4c of lemon-lime soda? or can you use just enough to cover the dumplings mid-way? Just wondering.

Do yourself a favor and make this! Use either 1 big peach or 2 small ones, don’t skimp on the fruit. I had my doubts about the 7Up but you can’t believe how well it works and how good this is. We served it with both ice cream and whip cream because what the heck ????

Hey hun. Planning a special dinner for my son in love who just got back from Africa. If I double this in a 9×13, do you reckon I would use 2 full cans of soda? Sometimes when you double a recipe you don’t double the liquid or it’s too soupy.
    What do you think?

Honestly, I’m not sure you’d need to double the liquid. Maybe just 1.5 times would be enough.

Has anybody tried diet lemon-lime soda? I can’t imagine doing so would make it inedible, but I’m asking first anyway. If I try and it’s inedible, I’m going to be sad… It sounds like a good reason to get extra ingredients. Ha!

Once I saw your post I went to the store to buy the needed ingredients. I got very excited because mine came out looking like yours…. I was a little disappointed though because it was too sweet. I think next time I make this, I’ll add a little lemon juice just to break that sweetness up.

Thanks, Stacey! To answer your question: I may choose to make these on the fly, and I don’t usually keep any kind of soda in the house. I’ll just get a few cans to keep in stock here. Also – I’ve only been a subscriber for several weeks, and I love receiving your e-mail newsletters. I’m a Yankee transplant to the South and I’m deeply in love with Southern ways and food. Again, many, many thanks for being you.
