Would like to use something other than Catfish. Any suggestions on another fish that might work in this recipe? I was considering cod. Thank you Stacey.

For this recipe, I’d suggest using another mild white fish that will hold up well to frying. Tilapia, cod, haddock, pollock, or even swai/basa should all work pretty well. Just keep in mind that thinner fillets may cook a little faster than catfish, so watch them closely and fry until they’re golden brown and cooked through. Hope that helps!

Hi buddy! Question…white or yellow cornmeal? I would think it wouldn’t matter. After all, not making cornbread right!

    • Stacey LittleStacey

Hey, Chris! Great question! For this recipe, it really doesn’t matter whether you use white or yellow cornmeal. Both will work just fine. It’s all about personal preference!

Hello my friend! On the cornmeal, which is best to dredge with? White or yellow or does it matter. Keep pumping out all those yummy recipes.

I have been frying catfsh for YEARS. I will never fry the same way again. This turned out so moist and light and flaky and flavorful. It was a winner at our house

I love frying catfish at home. And eating it I’m restaurants. We have a lot of good catfish joints in Texas. Hush puppies and coleslaw are a must. I’ve never used lemon pepper on mine though, that sounds so good!

Stacy, wish I was in the backyard eating fried catfish. Nothing better in the world. I have fried bream, bass and catfish the same way. Always the best. Thanks for sharing another good ole southern dish. Mary
